Operation and maintenance

The occupant or owner of a residential property must ensure that the fire extinguishing system is in working order and have it maintained and inspected as appropriate (section 22 of the Rescue Act). In this context appropriate maintenance means compliance with the maintenance instructions provided by the equipment supplier.

The schedule for periodic inspections is every 2 or 4 years depending on the system. Provisions regarding the inspection schedule are laid down in Ministry of the Interior Decree A65.
