Operation refers to the use, servicing, maintenance, inspections, repairs and modifications of pressure equipment.
Inspection bodies (approved bodies) carry out periodic inspections.
Owners and holders of pressure equipment are in charge of the placement, use andmaintenance of pressure equipment and inspections related to use. Owners and holders of pressure equipment shall submit placement plans for inspection when required under the pressure equipment statutes and attend to the registration of pressure equipment subject to registration, the appointment of supervisor and periodic inspections.
Owners or holders shall submit pressure equipment subject to registration for registration during the first periodic inspection of the equipment. The notification shall give information on the manufacturer, importer, owner, holder and supervisor, the registration number requested from the supervisory authority, the technical information concerning the pressure equipment and its location.
Supervisors are the persons in charge of the use of pressure equipment subject to registration. Owners and holders designate a supervisor for all pressure equipment subject to registration and notify Tukes of the identity of the supervisor. Supervisors shall possess the necessary qualifications and have expertise on the construction, operation and maintenance of the pressure equipment that is deemed to be sufficient.
Removal from use is the last stage of the lifecycle of industrial pressure equipment. Removal from use refers to scrapping, termination of pressure-bearing use or export abroad of pressure equipment. The owner and holder of registered pressure equipment shall notify Tukes of changes concerning the owner, holder, location and supervisor of pressure equipment and any removal from use of pressure equipment.
Tukes carries out supervision during use and investigates any accidents that may occur. Tukes maintains a register of pressure equipment containing information concerning pressure equipment necessary for supervisory purposes.
