Pressure equipment typically used by consumers includes the boilers and membrane expansion tanks used in the heating systems of properties and single-family houses, which in this context are referred to as house boilers. The pressure, volume and capacity of such boilers are so low that no statutory inspections need usually be performed after introduction. Maintenance thus remains the responsibility of the owner.
Finland has one million single-family houses and 265,000 of these have oil heating. Oil heating accounts for 23% of the heating energy demand of the entire building stock in Finland. The typical oil heating system in a single-family house consists of a hot-water boiler, oil burner and oil tank inclusive of piping and accessories.
