Aerosol dispenser denotes a non-reusable container made of metal, glass or plastic and containing a gas compressed, liquefied or dissolved under pressure, with or without a liquid, paste or powder. The usual volume of aerosol dispensers is 50 to 1000 ml.
The markings to be brought on the aerosol containers constitute a declaration given by the manufacturer – or any other business which has placed the product on the market – about the product's safety. Sufficient labelling in Finnish and Swedish indicates the safety, and gives appropriate warnings of incorrect use of the product.
The sale or other delivery of aerosol dispensers with inadequate markings is against the law. On the basis of the Finnish Aerosol Dispensers Decree, the manufacturer or any other business shall not sell nor deliver any aerosol dispensers with markings that are in violation of the above Decree. The container of any aerosol dispenser put up for sale in Finland shall bear the clear and easily readable markings referred to in our leaflet "Aerosol Dispensers in Finland", both in Finnish and Swedish. Further information e.g. about non-refillable LPG cartridges for portable appliances is available in standard SFS-EN 417.
Tukes is responsible for the market surveillance of aerosol dispensers in Finland, and keeps an eye on the products' conformity with the regulations.
