The validity of an exploration permit may be extended for a maximum of three years at a time. In total, the permit may remain valid for a maximum of 15 years.
The prerequisites for the extension of the validity of an exploration permit are as follows:
1) the exploration has been effective and systematic;
2) further research is necessary in order to establish the possibilities for exploiting the deposit;
3) the permit holder has complied with the obligations laid down in the Mining Act as well as the permit provisions;
4) the extension of the validity will not cause unreasonable inconvenience to public or private interest.
