Tukes periodically inspects all mines in operation. The inspection interval is determined by the nature of the mining operation and the conditions in the mine. Mines in regular operation under challenging conditions are inspected annually. The mining authority may also shorten the inspection interval if this is deemed necessary for ensuring safety.
Inspections shall establish a mine’s technical implementation, operating principles and management systems. An inspection report shall be compiled on inspections, including all the items inspected as well as any observations made on deficiencies.
