Quantity information

Quantity information must be submitted to the Chemical Product Register on any chemicals notifiable under the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health Decree (553/2008) on submitting of information on chemicals. This quantity information for each calendar year must be submitted by the end of the following February. The annual amounts of chemicals manufactured and imported must be provided in tonnes or in accordance with the following divisions: 

 

  • 0.1–1 tonne: the quantity is rounded to the nearest 0.1 tonne;
  • 1–100 tonnes: the quantity is rounded to the nearest 1 tonne;
  • 100–1,000 tonnes: the quantity is rounded to the nearest ± 10%; and
  • > 1,000 tonnes: the quantity is rounded to the nearest ± 20%

 

Provisions on the submission of quantity information are laid down in Ministry of Social Affairs and Health Decree 1155/2011.

 

Quantity information is used to estimate the amount of chemical substances on the Finnish market to establish, for example, how many tonnes of 2-propanol there were or in how many preparations it was found in 2009. The quantity information in the register cannot be used to draw conclusions about the products of an individual company.
