The orange-black hazard symbols, laid down in legislation to be phased out, are to be replaced within certain transition periods with new red/white-black hazard pictograms under the CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
The new hazard pictograms shall have a black symbol on a white background with a red frame sufficiently wide to be clearly visible. The form, colours and size of the pictograms are prescribed by the CLP Regulation, Annex I, section 1.2.1.
The new hazard pictograms and examples of the hazards of which they warn are presented here below. The new pictograms have no names, but each of them has a GHS code to be used as reference to the pictogram. For more information of the GHS codes and the pictogram-related hazard classes and categories, please refer to the REACH, CLP and Biocide Helpdesk website.
